The Ulju-gun Council in Ulsan closed its 247th extraordinary session Friday, wrapping up a 12-day legislative schedule with the eighth plenary session held at the council chamber, attended by Ulju-gun chief Lee Sun-geol and relevant civil servants.

Marking the council's first substantive collaboration with the ninth elected county administration, the session reviewed major work plans across the county government — covering the main office, public health centers, 12 townships and villages, the facilities management corporation, and county-affiliated foundations — as members sought directions for improving residents' livelihoods.

The council passed six agenda items, including amendments to the Ulju-gun local civil service staffing ordinance and an ordinance on the return of outsourced education and training expenses for civil servants. It also completed the first-half organizational setup, electing standing committee chairs and assigning members.

During the administration's work briefings, the council called for the unimpeded construction of the Ulju-gun public hospital — the county's most pressing issue — extended evening operations at the Ulju AI Education Center, measures to raise the county's fiscal self-sufficiency rate from its current 30 percent level, and improvements to the special guarantee fund regime for small business owners.

Council Speaker Jeong Woo-sik said the assembly would "fulfill its role of oversight and cooperation so that key issues and proposed solutions are fully reflected in county governance."
