Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, disclosed Thursday (local time) in a regulatory filing that its second-quarter sales climbed 20% from a year earlier to $200.61 billion.

The result surpassed the $196.47 billion consensus forecast compiled by analysts polled by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Earnings per share came in at $5.75, more than three times the Wall Street consensus estimate of $1.82.
