A parent trespassed on a Busan elementary school and assaulted a student on campus. A teacher who witnessed the assault did nothing to intervene.

According to JTBC's "Sageon Banjang" on Tuesday, a woman identified as A and her mother, identified as B, unlawfully entered an elementary school in Busan on the afternoon of July 3.

The two went to the school to confront a student they believed had gotten into a fight with A's child.

In footage aired by "Sageon Banjang," A threatened the student with a raised fist before knocking him to the ground, then grabbed him by both arms and the collar and shook him. B also joined in the assault, pinning the student's legs to prevent him from moving. The student struck his head on a flower bed and suffered a concussion.

The assault took place in full view of numerous other children.

Police have booked A on charges including violation of the Child Welfare Act for child abuse and are investigating the case.

A teacher was present at the scene but did not intervene, according to the investigation. The victim's parents told "Sageon Banjang" that the school initially refused to hand over CCTV footage. "When we finally obtained the footage with the help of a lawyer, it showed a teacher walking right past A as she was hitting our son," they said. "Shouldn't a teacher have called the police?"

Teachers are among those legally required to report child abuse. Anyone in that category who becomes aware of or suspects child abuse in the course of their duties must call 112.

The victim's parents said their son has refused to go to school for more than a week since the incident, telling them he is afraid. "He has nightmares, talks in his sleep, and has collapsed twice," they said. "A has not offered a single word of apology. We don't want a settlement or punishment — we want a sincere apology."
