The 2nd Suwon Social Economy Fair opened Wednesday at the exhibition hall of the Suwon Convention Center.
The fair brings together social enterprises, cooperatives, community businesses and self-reliance companies to share visions and policy directions for the social economy and to open new markets for their products. Suwon city organized the event, with the Suwon Urban Foundation and the Suwon, Uman and Huimang regional self-reliance centers serving as co-hosts.
About 300 people attended the opening ceremony, including Suwon Special City Mayor Lee Jae-jun. The event began with an opening performance, followed by commendations for contributors, congratulatory remarks and a ceremonial opening performance.
"I hope this fair becomes a springboard for the values of the social economy to take deep root in the daily lives of our citizens," Mayor Lee said. "We will continue to support social economy enterprises so they can build self-sustaining capacity and grow in harmony with the local community."
The fair runs through Thursday.
