[By Park Jong-il, senior reporter] Seoul's Dobong-gu district will conduct its 2026 resident registration fact-check survey from July 20 through Nov. 9, the district office announced.
The survey verifies whether residents are actually living at their registered addresses and will be carried out in two phases: a remote, non-contact survey and follow-up in-person visits.
During the remote phase, running Monday through Sept. 7, residents can participate by accessing the Government24 app from their registered address and responding to the survey questions. One representative per household may answer on behalf of all members.
From Sept. 8 through Nov. 9, district civil servants and neighborhood heads will conduct in-person visits to households that did not participate in the remote survey, as well as those designated for priority investigation.
Priority investigation targets include households with residents aged 100 or older, long-term whereabouts-unknown registrants of five or more years, suspected deceased individuals, high-risk welfare-crisis households, and school-age children with prolonged unexcused absences or who have never enrolled. Households that completed the remote survey may still be subject to priority in-person visits.
Where the survey finds a discrepancy between a resident's registered address and actual place of residence, the district will follow official notification and public announcement procedures before taking administrative action, which may include corrections, deletions or registration as whereabouts unknown.
"The resident registration fact-check survey provides essential data for shaping a wide range of policies in Dobong-gu, so I ask all residents to participate actively," district Mayor Kim Dong-wook said.
