A Starex and a Carnival van collided at an intersection in Samho-eup, Yeongam-gun, South Jeolla Province, at around 6:17 a.m. Tuesday.
A person in their 70s who was riding in the Starex was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest.
The Carnival was thrown by the force of the impact, crossed the road and came to a stop after striking a curb.
Preliminary investigations found that neither driver had been drinking nor operating the vehicle without a license.
Police believe both vehicles entered the intersection simultaneously and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
