Hwaseong City is accepting applications through July 31 for the 2026 Hwaseong Special City Social Venture Startup Idea Competition, the city announced Monday.

The competition aims to identify and nurture social ventures that combine social value with business viability.

Now in its second year following last year's inaugural edition, the competition is open to early-stage companies less than five years old and prospective entrepreneurs. Applications are accepted online.

This year's competition proceeds through a multi-stage evaluation process. It opens with a written review in August, followed by Round 1 — a technology verification presentation — in September, Round 2 — a market viability review and presentation — in October, and Round 3, a social venture festival, in November, after which finalists will be selected. Up to five companies or teams will be chosen.

Selected companies or teams will receive prototype development funding of 10 million won ($6,640) to 30 million won.
