A man in his 20s has been arrested for committing a sex crime against a foreign woman he had never met on a street in the middle of the night.

Suwon Paldal Police Station said Monday that officers arrested the man, identified only as A, on charges of quasi-rape causing bodily harm at around 2:10 a.m. on a street in Paldal-gu, Suwon.

A is accused of shoving a 19-year-old Vietnamese woman to the ground, then pulling down his pants and, wearing only underwear, pressing part of his body against her.

Police responded to a witness report and apprehended A at the scene. The investigation found that A and the victim had no prior acquaintance.

A told investigators he had been drunk and could not clearly remember what had happened.

Police said they plan to investigate the full circumstances of the incident based on witness statements and other evidence.
