Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho) held an inauguration ceremony for new Deputy District Mayor Kim Ki-hyun at the district office grand hall at 10 a.m. Monday.
District Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho and staff members — except those on essential public service duty — attended the ceremony, which proceeded with the national salute, an introduction of the new deputy district mayor and the inaugural address.
Kim Ki-hyun passed the fifth local higher civil service examination and has built extensive administrative experience in planning, economic and safety affairs. He has served as director of international exchange at the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Planning and Coordination Office, director of new industry policy at the Economic Policy Office, director of disaster safety planning at the Disaster Safety Office, and deputy district mayor of Dongdaemun-gu.
In his inaugural address, Kim said he was honored to join Gwangjin-gu at such a pivotal moment as the ninth elected term gets under way. "There is still much for me to learn about Gwangjin-gu," he said. "I will listen with humility, examine conditions on the ground firsthand, communicate with staff, and strengthen inter-departmental collaboration to ensure the district's governing philosophy is faithfully carried out."
He added that he would do his utmost, together with District Mayor Kim and all staff, to deliver a "comfortable, happy Gwangjin" that residents can feel in their daily lives.
District Mayor Kim Gyeong-ho said trust between staff and the deputy district mayor was paramount. "Let us build a 'comfortable, happy Gwangjin' together, grounded in an organizational culture of mutual respect and cooperation," he said. "I look forward to working with you."
