Water supply was cut off in parts of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, at around 4:50 p.m. Sunday, leaving residents without running water during a sweltering afternoon.

The outage affected the Singok-dong, Uijeongbu 1-dong and Ganeung-dong areas.

The city sent an emergency text alert to residents, saying water had been cut off due to a water pipe problem and that it would move quickly to address the issue.

Supply was restored about an hour later, at around 5:50 p.m.

Complaints continued even after restoration, as it took additional time for water to reach individual households.

A city official said the outage was caused by an improper pipe installation during relocation work at a housing redevelopment construction site in Jangam Zone 3. "Once we identified the cause, we immediately directed the contractor to take corrective action," the official said.
