Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu announced Tuesday that it was named an outstanding institution in the Ministry of Interior and Safety's "2026 Disaster Management Evaluation," based on 2025 performance.
The disaster management evaluation comprehensively assesses the capabilities of 340 responsible institutions nationwide — including central government agencies, local governments and public institutions — across the full cycle of disaster prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
The district earned high marks across all categories, including general administration, preparedness and response. Particularly strong scores came in key indicators such as the appropriateness of disaster safety budget operations, crisis management manual administration, and the maintenance of response systems for disaster situation management.
As a result of the designation, Eunpyeong-gu will receive a commendation from the minister of interior and safety, along with incentives including special grants and prize money.
"This recognition as an outstanding institution is the fruit of our sustained efforts to strengthen disaster prevention and response systems with residents' safety as our top priority," district mayor Kim Mi-kyung said. "We will continue to build an airtight disaster management framework and do our utmost to make Eunpyeong-gu a safe place where residents can go about their daily lives with peace of mind."
