Hite Jinro said Friday it has published its "2026 Sustainability Report," outlining key achievements and strategies in environmental, social and governance (ESG) management.
The report centers on seven core ESG issues identified through a double materiality assessment: occupational health and safety, water resource management, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, product safety and quality, compliance and ethics, climate change response, and chemical and hazardous substance management.
Hite Jinro said it continues to strengthen environmental management in pursuit of carbon neutrality and climate change mitigation. The company cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 25.9 percent last year compared with 2020 levels, and reduced water consumption by 5 percent year-on-year — achieving a water-use intensity 15 percent below its target.
The company also used Jupiter Intelligence to analyze the short-, medium- and long-term financial impacts of climate-related physical risks, and has built response strategies and management frameworks based on those findings.
Hite Jinro said it continues to pursue a range of community initiatives, including beach cleanup drives and support programs for fire department families, while also working to strengthen cooperation with subcontractors and build a transparent, accountable governance structure. The company has invested a total of about 11.7 billion won ($7.78 million) in 32 promising startups since 2020, contributing to innovation ecosystem development and shared growth.
Hite Jinro CEO Jang In-seop said sustainable management is "not a choice but the core of corporate competitiveness" as the company moves beyond its centennial founding and prepares for the next 100 years, adding that it will continue to put ESG principles into practice.
