Oh Hyeon-gyu celebrates his comeback goal [Yonhap]

Oh Hyeon-gyu, the 25-year-old South Korea striker who featured at the 2026 North America World Cup, is attracting interest from English Premier League club Hull City.

Serkan Morova, a journalist who closely follows Turkish football, said Thursday on social media that Hull City are monitoring Oh.

Oh left Belgian club Genk in February to join Turkish powerhouse Besiktas. He appeared in 16 matches across all competitions, scoring eight goals and adding four assists to establish himself in the Turkish league.

His position at the club has since become uncertain, however, after Besiktas recently appointed Vincenzo Italiano as their new head coach. The club is reported to be pursuing high-profile strikers including Dusan Vlahovic and Romelu Lukaku, making it difficult for Oh to count on a starting role under the new manager.

Oh made an impact at his first World Cup, scoring a comeback winner to give South Korea a 2-1 lead against the Czech Republic in the opening group-stage match — his debut goal on the World Cup stage.

He came off the bench in the first two group-stage games before earning a start as the lone striker in the final group match against South Africa, which South Korea lost 1-0, though he failed to find the net.

Having returned home after the tournament, Oh is drawing interest from multiple clubs as he prepares for next season.

Hull City won promotion back to the Premier League for the first time in nine years after advancing through the playoffs in the 2025-26 Championship season and are looking to strengthen their squad to stay up in the top flight.

Should Oh sign with Hull City, he would become the 21st South Korean player to appear in the Premier League.
