Volvo Group Korea held its 2026 Volvo Supplier Day on Wednesday at the Grand Mercure Ambassador Hotel in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, drawing about 200 attendees, including representatives from roughly 120 domestic partner companies and company executives.

Now in its 18th year since launching in 2008, the Supplier Day is the company's flagship annual event for sharing its vision and strategy with partners and discussing ways to strengthen mutual cooperation. Volvo Group Korea said it works with more than 150 suppliers within a 100-kilometer radius of its Changwon factory, generating more than 20,000 additional jobs and contributing to the vitality of the regional industrial ecosystem.

This year's event was held under the theme "Agile Partnership, Shared Success." Senior executives in attendance included Peter Jordanson, vice president of purchasing at Volvo Construction Equipment, and Andrei Pavlovets, vice president of purchasing for the Asia-Pacific region.

The event opened with remarks from Cho Young-ho, chairman of the Volvo Supplier Council, followed by a presentation by Jordanson on global business direction and market trends. He highlighted key challenges facing the construction equipment industry — including supply chain shifts, technological innovation and diversifying customer demands — and said the company must strengthen rapid-response capabilities and flexible cooperation frameworks with its suppliers. Presentations on technology development, operations and procurement strategy followed, broadening participants' understanding of the company's key business priorities and future collaboration goals.

Volvo Group Korea presented awards to outstanding suppliers in categories including quality, sustainability, production capacity and cost competitiveness, and also named its Supplier of the Year.

Pavlovets shared the global market outlook and future partnership strategy, outlining the company's direction for creating new growth opportunities with its suppliers.

"This was a meaningful occasion to discuss how Volvo and its suppliers can collaborate more nimbly and flexibly to generate synergy in a rapidly changing market environment," Pavlovets said. "We will continue to build on our solid partnerships with suppliers to strengthen sustainable competitiveness and move forward together toward shared success and growth."

Meanwhile, Volvo Group Korea recently signed an MOU with Posco at its Changwon factory to jointly develop materials and manufacturing technology for next-generation construction equipment, part of broader efforts to boost technological competitiveness through research and development investment.
