Sejung Group said Thursday it has begun rolling out its in-house developed AI-based product decision system across its operations.
The system is part of the company's "Vision Toward a Century-Old Enterprise," a four-pronged strategy announced to mark the group's 50th anniversary, with the preemptive adoption of AI and new digital technologies as one of its pillars. Chairman Park Soon-ho declared in his New Year's address that "2026 is the year to accelerate growth through AI innovation and the strengthening of core capabilities."
The system is being developed in three stages. The first stage, introduced this month, features an automatic product attribute extraction function that analyzes product photos and converts characteristics such as color, material and pattern into standardized data. The second stage, set for rollout in October, will combine product attribute data with image similarity analysis to automatically identify comparable past products and extract their sales performance and purchasing data. The group is currently building a third-stage sales volume prediction model and plans to complete the full system by the end of this year.
The system is notable for having been developed in-house by frontline employees rather than IT specialists or external developers, allowing it to be tailored to actual workflows while cutting the cost of procuring outside solutions.
Sejung Group is also pushing to embed AI across the entire organization. Initiatives include an in-house training course called the AI Maestro Program that addresses real workplace challenges, an internal learning community called AI Frontier, an AI competition that identifies and recognizes employee use cases, and regular AI sharing sessions held by each brand — all aimed at building staff capabilities.
"This system is the product of combining Sejung's long-accumulated expertise with the latest AI technology," a company official said. "We have moved beyond digital transformation to actively deploying AI to solve real operational problems, marking the full-scale launch of our AI transformation drive." The official added that the group would "continue to respond swiftly to new technologies and shifting trends as we pursue growth toward becoming a century-old enterprise."
