Kim Gil-li, the double gold medalist in women's short-track speed skating at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics who competes for Seongnam City Hall, has donated 10.72 million won ($4,720) to Compassion Korea, the Korean branch of the international child development organization.
Her management agency, 700 Creators, said Wednesday that the donation combined 720,000 won raised from fan meeting entry fees last month with an additional 10 million won Kim contributed from her own pocket.
"Thanks to my fans, I was able to start this support, and I am all the more glad that we could practice this meaningful act of giving together," Kim said when presenting the funds to Compassion Korea. "I hope this small contribution helps children in Kenya grow up in a more secure and warm environment."
Compassion Korea said it will use the donation to support children and families in Kenya facing a food crisis.
