Police in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, have launched an investigation after a group of middle school students were involved in a late-night brawl.

The Pohang Southern Police Station is investigating six students, including a 15-year-old ninth-grader identified as A, on charges of joint assault.

The students attend middle schools in Gyeongju and Pohang. They are accused of fighting one another around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Hyoja-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang.

Officers responded to a report of students brawling and apprehended A and the others at the scene. Police said the students were acquainted with one another.

Investigators are looking into the exact circumstances that led to the altercation.
