Eastar Jet will hold its largest airfare discount event of the year, covering routes to Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Jeju, targeting travel demand from autumn through early next year.
The airline announced Monday that its "Super Star Festa" promotional sale will begin the same day.
Super Star Festa is a large-scale discount event Eastar Jet holds regularly in the first and third quarters each year, offering the deepest discounts and the highest number of seats on sale of any promotion during the year.
The sale covers all Eastar Jet routes, with discounts of up to 99 percent on base fares. The lowest all-in one-way fares — including airport taxes and fuel surcharges — start at 28,900 won ($19) for Jeju, 66,300 won for Japan, 70,900 won for China and 111,900 won for Southeast Asia.
Sales open in stages by region. Japan and China routes go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday on the airline's website and mobile app, followed by Southeast Asia and Jeju routes at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The staggered schedule is designed to ease website congestion.
The travel period runs from Oct. 25 through March 27 next year, though some blackout dates may apply. The airline advises customers to check the full terms on its website before booking.
In addition to the discounted fares, registered members on the Eastar Jet website can change the date or time of an international ticket free of charge up to 14 days before departure.
Airlines are competing aggressively on promotional fares to capture second-half travel demand. With more consumers factoring in fuel surcharges and exchange rate fluctuations, all-in fares have become a key consideration in booking decisions.
"Super Star Festa is a promotional sale Eastar Jet runs regularly in the first and third quarters every year, offering the largest discounts and the most seats on sale of any event we hold," an Eastar Jet official said.
Meanwhile, Eastar Jet has recently built an integrated ground operations platform to strengthen on-time performance and flight safety by consolidating all ground-handling processes under a single system.
The platform manages in one place all ground operations between an aircraft's arrival at the gate and its next departure — including check-in, passenger boarding, baggage handling, cabin cleaning, refueling and maintenance. It also supports real-time information sharing among ground staff.
