Hyundai Department Store announced Monday it ranked first among domestic companies in the "2025 Survey on Corporate Support for Arts and Culture" published by the Korea Mecenat Association.

The association conducts the annual survey across more than 700 companies — including the top 500 domestic firms by revenue and corporate cultural foundations — examining the scale and scope of arts patronage. This year's survey covered 737 companies. Hyundai Department Store has held a top-three position for seven consecutive years since 2018.

The retailer operates dedicated cultural and exhibition spaces at key stores, including Hyundai Seoul and its Pangyo branch, among them ALT.1, the Hyundai Children's Book Art Museum and Gallery H. ALT.1, a multipurpose cultural complex that opened on the sixth floor of Hyundai Seoul in 2021, surpassed 1.6 million cumulative paid visitors as of June.

Since 2015, the Pangyo branch has been home to the Hyundai Children's Book Art Museum (MOKA), the retail industry's first government-registered Type 1 art museum for children and the country's first children's art museum dedicated to picture books. The company also runs MOKA Moving Museum, which brings arts and culture directly to children in underserved communities, and Little Artist, an education program that invites children from local community centers. Since September last year, the Cheonho branch's 13th floor has housed a pop-up of the Tokyo Toy Museum Seoul, the only eco-friendly wooden toy experience space of its kind in the country.

"We will continue to present differentiated content that allows the public to enjoy arts and culture more closely and in greater depth, while sparing no effort to support the development of the arts and culture sector," a Hyundai Department Store official said.
