Bonghwa-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Sunday that it has been selected in the locally proposed specialized housing category of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's first-half 2026 specialized housing competition.

Locally proposed specialized housing is a customized public rental housing model that allows local governments to set eligibility criteria and supply targets relatively freely based on regional conditions.

The selected project will be built in the Sori-ri area of Chunyang-myeon at a total cost of 10.3 billion won ($6.63 million), with 30 public rental units — a mix of row houses and detached homes — to be completed by 2030 for workers at local public institutions and young agricultural workers.

"We will actively work to improve living conditions so that young people and workers can put down roots, create comfortable residential spaces to attract young residents, and provide full support for stable settlement in Bonghwa-gun," Bonghwa-gun County Chief Choi Gi-yeong said.
