Daegu City announced Wednesday that it has carried out a reshuffle of director-general-level officials, effective Thursday, in line with the inauguration of Mayor Choo Kyung-ho under the ninth directly elected administration.

Kim Tae-un, deputy district mayor of Dong-gu, 57, was appointed acting director of the Future Innovation and Growth Office, which oversees the city's industrial transformation and key economic agenda.

Kim was selected on the strength of broad experience in the city's major economic departments — including stints as director of the Jobs and Investment Bureau and head of the Startup Promotion Division. He is expected to drive core ninth-term priorities such as a sweeping economic overhaul and the attraction of large corporations.

Kim Dong-u, deputy district mayor of Dalseo-gu, 51, was named director of the Administrative Bureau, tasked with tightening internal discipline and leading administrative reform.

Kim brings strong communication skills and organizational leadership to the role. He will be responsible for revitalizing a civil service culture seen as having grown lax and rebuilding an administrative system in which all civil servants work proactively for residents.

Han Eung-min, 57, director of policy planning, will serve as acting public affairs officer, filling the vacancy created by public affairs officer Kim Jin-hyeok, 44, who is departing for overseas training.

Han is considered well suited to the role given his prior experience in public affairs and his broad understanding of city administration, and is expected to communicate the ninth-term administration's key policies effectively to residents.

Lee Seong-yong, 54, director of airport policy, was tapped as chief of the mayor's secretariat.

Lee has a reputation within the organization for his balanced approach to work and flexible communication skills. He is expected to help reestablish the secretariat as a bridge connecting residents and city hall officials with the mayor, as well as a practical support unit.

Jeong Ui-gwan, 58, the outgoing director of the Future Innovation and Growth Office, who has steadily advanced major economic initiatives, will be transferred to serve as deputy district mayor of Dalseo-gu.

Kim Dong-gyu, 44, director of military facility relocation policy, will move to Dong-gu as deputy district mayor, where his planning and execution capabilities — demonstrated in handling large-scale projects — are expected to contribute to addressing the district's key challenges.

Mayor Choo said the city would "quickly transform into a hands-on, field-oriented organization that sheds authoritarianism and outdated practices, looks only to its citizens, and works proactively and creatively — writing a new chapter in Daegu's history."
