Bottom heating element enables grilling, steaming, stir-frying and more in one vessel
A new container that delivers crispy grilled results inside a microwave is drawing attention.
Lifestyle products company Lock&Lock has launched the Baro Hankki Light Grill (pictured), a microwave-safe container capable of six different cooking methods.
The product combines the convenience of microwave cooking with the taste of pan-cooked food, the company said, allowing users to prepare a variety of dishes at high heat without an open flame or additional cookware.
That is made possible by a specially designed heating element built into the base and grill plate, which converts microwave energy into intense heat reaching up to 250 degrees Celsius. The element distributes heat evenly across the entire surface, cooking food thoroughly and uniformly from the inside out. Lock&Lock said the container produces grill marks and a crispy texture comparable to pan-frying, all without a flame.
A dual-sided heating structure cooks the top and bottom of food at the same time, cutting cooking time while delivering consistent results. The container supports six cooking functions — grilling mackerel and sausages, stir-frying, steaming, boiling, simmering and reheating — making it broadly versatile.
"It pairs particularly well with commercially available frozen boneless fish, letting you grill fish easily with no worries about odor or smoke," a Lock&Lock official said. "It is designed as an all-in-one structure that handles cooking, storage and serving — food can go straight to the table without being transferred to a separate dish."
