Top rating in all four assessments by Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service
Hospital operates Korea's first family-centered care process and regional maternal-neonatal center
Inha University Hospital has earned the top rating in the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service's assessment of neonatal intensive care units, again demonstrating excellence in neonatal intensive care.
The hospital scored 95.44 points and received a first-grade rating in the "2025 (4th) NICU Adequacy Assessment" released by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service on June 30, the hospital announced Thursday.
Inha University Hospital has maintained the top rating in every round of the assessment since the evaluation was first introduced, demonstrating consistently high standards of care.
The hospital currently operates a 26-bed NICU. It was designated a regional maternal-neonatal medical center by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in August 2025 and began full operations in September of that year.
The regional maternal-neonatal medical center is an integrated care system that strengthens high-risk obstetric services alongside the existing neonatal intensive care regional center framework, providing specialized medical care for both pregnant women and newborns.
The hospital has also been active in improving the treatment environment. In 2022, it became the first medical institution in Korea to introduce a family-centered care system in its NICU.
In 2023, it opened a family-centered care center with three family rooms. Parents can participate directly in the care process, including kangaroo care and infant caregiving. The center has been credited with improving both treatment outcomes and the psychological well-being of families.
Han Won-ho, director of the hospital's regional maternal-neonatal medical center and a professor of pediatrics, said the four consecutive top ratings reflect "the expertise of our medical staff and their sustained efforts to improve the quality of care." He added that the hospital would "do its utmost to provide high-quality maternal and neonatal medical services so that high-risk pregnant women and newborns in the Incheon area can receive treatment with confidence."
