Maritime transport overhaul, youth policy expansion and renewable energy development top agenda
Jang Jeong-min launched his official term as Incheon's Ongjin-gun chief Wednesday, laying out a governing blueprint for the island county's future.
Speaking at his inauguration ceremony at the county office's Hyosimgwan hall, Jang said he would pursue a results-driven administration focused on delivering tangible change for residents rather than empty slogans.
"I will be a county chief who shows through action, not words," Jang said. "I will be a hands-on leader who resolves, one by one, the everyday inconveniences faced by island residents, and I will make Ongjin a hopeful place where people are truly happy."
He outlined three priorities for his term: improving the maritime transport system serving the county's island communities, expanding youth settlement support and job opportunities, and building an industrial base for renewable energy — all in pursuit of sustainable regional development.
Jang said he would make transportation his top priority, describing it as the single greatest factor shaping quality of life in an island community. He also said he would concentrate administrative resources on tailored policies to stem youth outmigration and on fostering an eco-friendly energy industry as a future growth engine.
The administration has set "a hopeful Ongjin where residents are happy" as its governing goal, and plans to pursue a range of policies centered on lifestyle-oriented public services and balanced regional development.
"I will make sure every promise to residents is kept through concrete action," Jang said. "I will deliver results that people can feel, build an administration that earns their trust, and make Ongjin an even better place to live."
The inauguration was attended by about 300 people, including former Incheon Mayor Park Nam-chun, former Incheon Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs Jo Taek-sang, former county chiefs, Incheon city lawmakers, heads of local institutions and civic organizations, and residents.
