Cho Yu-jin was inaugurated as Yeongdeungpo-gu district mayor Tuesday afternoon at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall, marking the start of the ninth directly elected term.
Residents and local figures from all walks of life attended the ceremony to celebrate Cho's inauguration.
In her inaugural address, Cho said she was born and raised in Yeongdeungpo and had always been present in the daily lives of its residents. "I will devote entirely to the development of my hometown Yeongdeungpo the experience in national and local administration that I have built through work at Cheong Wa Dae, the National Assembly and other posts," she said.
Cho then announced five core directions for governing the district over the next 100 years: a district where residents are the true owners, a premium city, a vibrant city, an international city, and an education and welfare city.
She closed her address by saying, "Holding deep in my heart the trust and expectations you have shown me, I will work with full energy alongside residents to open a bold new 100 years for Yeongdeungpo — the finest district in the land."
