Seongju-gun in North Gyeongsang Province held an inauguration ceremony Tuesday for Jeon Hwa-sik, the newly elected county chief for the ninth term of civilian local government, at the main auditorium of the county office, with heads of institutions and civic organizations, residents and public officials in attendance.

In his inaugural address, Jeon said, "What the residents have entrusted to me is not a single post but the future of Seongju," adding that he would "run county affairs that earn trust by looking only to the residents."

He said that after spending eight years visiting markets, melon fields and village community centers across the county to hear residents' voices, he had come to understand that "what residents want is not grand promises but an administration that brings real change to their lives."

Jeon said he would "create change that residents can feel through action rather than words, and results rather than plans." He pledged to become a county chief for all residents, making community unity the top priority of his administration while listening more humbly to the public.

Jeon outlined five policy directions for his term: making Seongju a place where people want to have and raise children, a county that draws youth back, a county with a more competitive agricultural sector, a county with a revitalized local economy, and a county where culture and tourism grow together.

"I will be a county chief who listens with humility, decides with integrity and takes responsibility to the end," Jeon said. "I will make sure we realize a Seongju united as one and ready to run again, together with our residents."
