The Ministry of Justice has appointed its third-term 2030 Youth Advisory Panel. Minister Jeong Seong-ho shared his personal phone number with panel members, asking them to propose policies they feel directly in their daily lives.
The ministry posted a 1-minute-16-second video on its official YouTube channel "Ministry of Justice TV" on Sunday, announcing that Jeong had shared his personal phone number at the third-term panel's inauguration ceremony held June 22.
The video opens with a scene in which Jeong's face has been digitally superimposed over that of singer Choi Seong-gon — played by actor Oh Jeong-se — performing the song "I Like You" from the film "Wild Thing." In the video, Jeong tells panel members to take out their phones, then reveals his personal mobile number and asks them to save it under "Minister of Justice."
"If you have something to suggest, or if you've already raised it but nothing has changed, send me a text directly — I'll take it into account," Jeong said. "Please make sure to send your proposals."
Jeong also addressed the economic realities facing young people. "Even if the Kospi hits 9,000 or 10,000, what does that mean to you if you don't have money in your pocket right now?" he said. "How much can you really make by borrowing to invest, or putting in whatever savings you've managed to build up?"
"For most of you, it's just someone else's story," he said, adding that even people's lives and modest assets are under threat from voice phishing and jeonse fraud. "Look at the victims of jeonse fraud — those being scammed are all in the 2030 generation," he said.
Jeong went on to say he wanted young people to propose areas where they feel firsthand that systems need to change. "Close that gap yourselves," he said. "Not the thinking of an older generation like me — I want you to bring plenty of proposals based on what you feel in your own lives: 'This system, this policy — let's try it this way.'"
The ministry held the inauguration ceremony for the third-term 2030 Youth Advisory Panel at the Government Complex Gwacheon in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, on June 22. The panel is a policy monitoring body made up of young people between the ages of 19 and 39, serving as a channel for conveying the perspectives of the younger generation on key ministry policies.
Since the 2030 advisory panel system was first introduced in 2024, the first- and second-term panels held a combined 54 regular meetings, submitted 47 policy proposals, and visited 11 key Ministry of Justice policy sites. Jeong presented appointment certificates to panel members and offered words of congratulation and encouragement.
