The race for speaker of the Seoul Metropolitan Council will be decided by a runoff vote among three candidates: Kang Dong-gil, Lim Man-gyun and Kim In-je.

The Democratic Party's Seoul Metropolitan Council held a primary election Monday afternoon to select its speaker candidate. Six lawmakers entered the first round — five-term lawmaker Kim Gi-deok, four-term lawmaker Kim In-je, and three-term lawmakers Kang Dong-gil, Lim Man-gyun, Lee Seung-mi and Bong Yang-sun. Of those six, Kang, Lim and Kim In-je advanced to a runoff, which was underway as of publication.
