BTS member Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, reportedly invested in US aerospace company SpaceX at an early stage and earned returns of 20 to 40 times his initial investment.

Suga made the investment through Link Asset Partners (Link Asset Management), the first domestic institution to invest in SpaceX, according to Edaily on Monday.

The exact timing and size of his investment have not been confirmed. He is said to have been an early investor who put money in before 2022 and still holds the position.

SpaceX's valuation jumped from about $46 billion in 2020 to about $100 billion in 2021, then surged to roughly $1.77 trillion based on its IPO price at the time of its listing on June 12.

Based on those figures, estimates put Suga's return at a minimum of around 20 times his investment — and roughly 40 times if measured from the 2020 valuation.

SpaceX's share price surged after its listing, hitting a high of $225.64 on June 16, before pulling back somewhat. On Thursday (Korean Standard Time), the stock closed at $153.23 — up 13.5 percent from its IPO price — giving the company a market capitalization of $2.02 trillion.
