Six policy areas open for public submissions — including the Changdong economic engine and future transport and housing innovation — with resident proposals to be handed directly to the district mayor at the launch ceremony
The Dobong Grand Transformation Preparatory Committee — the transition body for the incoming Dobong-gu district mayor under the ninth directly elected term — has launched a resident policy proposal initiative called the Dobong Grand Transformation Resident Proposal Project. The committee is chaired by Kim Gwang-su.
The project invites residents to submit policy ideas directly, with the aim of incorporating their input into district administration and shaping the vision and policy direction of a new Dobong-gu.
A committee official said the initiative carries significant meaning as "a resident-sovereignty model of policy participation, going beyond simple opinion gathering to give residents a direct role in the ninth-term district administration."
Submissions are organized around six areas tied to the key campaign pledges of Dobong-gu District Mayor-elect Kim Dong-wook: the Changdong economic engine; future transport and residential innovation; public site development and urban regeneration; education and smart welfare; resident sovereignty and administrative innovation; and an open category for other proposals.
Any Dobong-gu resident may submit proposals through the district's official website through July 6. Submissions will be reviewed and categorized by the preparatory committee and compiled into a formal Dobong Grand Transformation Resident Proposal Document.
The compiled document will be presented to the district mayor at the ninth-term inauguration ceremony on July 8. The handover will be carried out by resident representatives drawn from youth, senior citizens, women, people with disabilities and labor groups.
A committee official said the handover at the inauguration ceremony "carries the symbolic meaning of resident sovereignty — that the ninth-term district administration begins from the voices of its residents."
Following the handover, the relevant departments will review the resident proposals and incorporate them into the major policy agenda and campaign pledge implementation of the ninth term.
District Mayor-elect Kim said, "The residents are the protagonists of the Dobong Grand Transformation. Small ideas and policy proposals from residents will be the starting point for building a new Dobong-gu." He added that he would "actively incorporate the proposals residents send into district administration, realizing a resident-sovereignty governance that is built together, decided together and accountable together with residents."
