Collision occurs 24 nautical miles southeast of Daebyeon Port in Gijang-gun

Minister Hwang Jong-woo orders full mobilization of available rescue resources

A fishing vessel and an oil tanker have collided in waters off Gijang-gun, Busan, prompting the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to launch an all-out rescue operation.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said the collision occurred at around 10:09 a.m. Thursday, approximately 24 nautical miles southeast of Daebyeon Port in Gijang-gun, Busan, involving the large stern trawler 3 Dong-a and the oil tanker Gas Broadway.

Minister Hwang Jong-woo issued an emergency directive immediately after the accident. "Mobilize all available rescue resources to the fullest extent and do everything possible to save lives," he said.

Rescue operations are currently underway. The ministry said it will release further details, including information on casualties and the progress of the rescue effort, as they become available.
