At Honam Hoguk Memorial Hall in Suncheon
A video exhibition honoring independence activist Kim Gu (1876–1949) will open at Honam Hoguk Memorial Hall in Suncheon to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth.
The video exhibition, titled "My Wish," will run on the memorial hall's first floor in Yeonhyang-dong, Suncheon, from Friday — the anniversary of Kim's death — through July 5, the date of his funeral procession, as a tribute to his memory.
A special exhibition titled "Footsteps That Became Light" will follow, running from July 5 through Dec. 31. Admission to both exhibitions is free.
The exhibitions retrace Kim's travels across the Honam region and offer a multidimensional look at his life — from his youth through his independence movement activities and, after his return to Korea, his tours of the three southern provinces of Honam, Hoseo and Yeongnam.
"We hope this serves as an opportunity to reflect on Kim Gu's noble aspirations and spirit in pursuit of independence and the establishment of a unified nation, by following the footsteps of his Honam travels," a memorial hall official said.
