Team to focus on key campaign pledges and major issues, with site visits planned to the integrated CCTV control center, the 50 Plus Center and the Yongsan Park returned site; Kim says he will craft policies residents can 'directly feel'
The transition team for the incoming Yongsan-gu district office head has completed briefings from all district departments and is now moving into full-scale field inspections as it works to lay out a blueprint for the ninth directly elected administration.
The team conducted departmental briefings beginning June 18, reviewing the progress of major projects, pressing issues and plans for implementing the key campaign pledges of the incoming administration.
The briefings were organized to deepen the team's understanding of district operations ahead of the new administration's launch and to closely examine the status and challenges of major policies.
Sessions covered three areas: the progress of major projects by department, key issues facing Yongsan-gu, and plans for carrying out the administration's core campaign pledges. The team focused particularly on assessing the effectiveness of policies closely tied to residents' daily lives and the feasibility of fulfilling those pledges.
Following the briefings, the team plans to begin field inspections Friday, starting with the Yongsan-gu integrated CCTV control center, which monitors public safety, before visiting the Yongsan 50 Plus Center — which opened in February — and the returned site of Yongsan Park, to assess their operations and project progress firsthand.
Kim Gyeong-dae, the Yongsan-gu district office head-elect, said "the quality of a policy is determined in the field," adding that "creating practical policies that residents can directly feel — from the residents' perspective — is the core mission of the ninth administration."
He added that the briefings had allowed the team to gain a thorough grasp of Yongsan's current conditions and key issues. "Through field inspections, we will closely examine the status of major facilities and projects, and develop policies that residents can tangibly experience, built on the twin pillars of stabilizing livelihoods and driving future growth," he said.
