Lee Chun-woo, a North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly member representing Yeongcheon, announced Wednesday his candidacy for vice speaker of the 13th North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly's first-half term, pledging to "provide solid support for each lawmaker's legislative activities through leadership built on coordination, communication and dignity."

Lee served three terms on the Yeongcheon City Council before winning three consecutive terms on the North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly. He has also served as chairman of the Planning and Economy Committee, chairman of the Assembly Management Committee, and president of the National Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Assembly Management Committee Chairs.

"The competitiveness of the assembly stems from the legislative capacity of its members," Lee said. He added that he would build a more professional and efficient foundation for legislative work by completing a legislative data system, expanding tailored education programs and providing incentives for outstanding members.

He said the vice speaker's role is one of support rather than prominence. "The vice speaker's place is not out front, but firmly behind the scenes, enabling members to focus on their legislative duties," he said. "If elected, I will serve all members — not any one side — and do my utmost in the roles of communication and coordination."
