President Donald Trump said Tuesday he had been informed by Iran that it is not charging any separate fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social account that "Iran has informed the United States that they have not, and are not, charging tolls, insurance fees, or any other form of payment for use of the Strait of Hormuz."
He warned that if the notification proved false, further negotiations would be halted immediately.
Trump also said the United States has not provided funds to Iran or released any frozen assets. However, he said some Iranian funds under US control would be used to purchase American food products, including corn, wheat and soybeans.
