Growing demand for value-up investments alongside an expanding retirement pension market has pushed Shinhan Asset Management's flagship pension fund past 300 billion won ($195 million) in net assets.

Shinhan Asset Management announced Wednesday that its Shinhan Retirement Pension Fundamental Index 40 Fund — a bond-mixed fund — has crossed the 300 billion won threshold.

According to fund evaluator Zeroin, the fund's net assets stood at 79.2 billion won at the start of the year before surpassing 300 billion won as of Monday. The fund crossed 100 billion won in mid-January and 200 billion won in April, sustaining its growth on the back of steady capital inflows and strong performance.

The fund holds both equities and bonds. Its equity portion tracks the Korea Value-Up Index, which reflects corporate shareholder return policies, capital efficiency and profitability, while its bond portion invests in government bonds and high-grade corporate bonds to pursue stable returns.

Major holdings include Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, SK Square, Hyundai Motor and KB Financial Group. The portfolio is built around companies expected to deliver earnings growth and enhanced corporate value.

Performance has been solid across time horizons. The fund posted returns of 20.44 percent over the past three months, 59.15 percent over one year and 93.13 percent over three years, drawing sustained attention from retirement pension investors.

Shinhan Asset Management has been attracting capital on the strength of its index product lineup. Last month its SOL AI Semiconductor TOP2 Plus ETF surpassed 2 trillion won in net assets, and the retirement pension product tracking the Korea Value-Up Index has now crossed 300 billion won, with the firm's flagship offerings continuing to grow.

In step with that momentum, the firm launched the Shinhan SOL Kosdaq 150 Index Fund in April and rebranded its existing KOSPI 200-tracking product as the Shinhan SOL KOSPI 200 Index Fund, expanding its index product lineup.

"The Shinhan Retirement Pension Fundamental Index 40 Fund continues to attract steady inflows on the back of a solid management strategy and stable short- and long-term performance," said Kim Gyeong-il, head of Shinhan Asset Management's WM pension channel division. "We plan to develop it into a leading retirement pension fund through an expanded distributor lineup and active marketing."
