Western nations are reopening their embassies in Tehran following a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran.

Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday (local time) it had resumed operations at its Tehran embassy roughly three months after closing it due to the Middle East war.

Denmark withdrew its diplomats from the Iranian capital on March 10, shortly after the war broke out.

"Considering the improved security situation in Iran, we have decided to reopen our embassy in Tehran," the ministry said in a statement, adding that the Danish ambassador to Iran had been working from the Tehran mission since June 19.

Italy also reopened its Tehran embassy on June 19, likewise after a roughly three-month closure.

Switzerland temporarily closed its Tehran embassy on March 11 but announced around April 24 — about 40 days later — that it was preparing to resume operations.

The Swiss embassy in Tehran also serves as a diplomatic channel between the United States and Iran, which have no formal relations.

South Korea kept its Tehran embassy fully operational throughout the conflict. The mission continued consular services, including support for the evacuation of South Korean nationals in Iran.

With diplomatic missions in Tehran moving toward normalcy following the US-Iran ceasefire deal, Western countries appear to be gradually resuming direct diplomatic engagement with Iran.
