A fire broke out at a warehouse in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, with firefighters working to extinguish the blaze.
Fire authorities said the fire started at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at a warehouse in Unyang-dong, Gimpo. Officials declared a Level 1 response, mobilizing all personnel from the jurisdiction's fire stations to fight the blaze.
No casualties have been confirmed so far. However, large plumes of black smoke rising from the scene have raised concerns among nearby residents.
The city of Gimpo issued an emergency text alert urging residents to reroute vehicles away from roads surrounding the building and calling on anyone inside to evacuate immediately.
Fire authorities said they plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire once it has been fully extinguished.
