Sponsors US robotics team, strengthens STEM education
Hanon Systems said Monday it is expanding youth education support and future talent development programs at its worksites around the world as part of its ESG (environmental, social and governance) management initiatives.
Since its founding, Hanon Systems has carried out a range of social contribution activities in education, the environment and community development through its in-house corporate citizenship program, "Hanon Systems Citizen." More recently, the company has been leveraging its strengths as a technology and engineering firm to strengthen its focus on education — expanding STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) support, career exploration programs, industry-academia partnerships and internship opportunities.
In the United States, the company's local subsidiary recently sponsored the Frost RoboFalcons, a middle school robotics team based in Livonia, Michigan. The sponsorship aims to help students develop creativity, technical skills and problem-solving abilities by participating in the FIRST Championship, the world's largest youth robotics competition.
Hanon Systems also runs tailored talent development programs at individual global sites. Its Novi Technical Center in the US took part in a Career Vision Day event, offering career counseling to elementary, middle and high school students from nearby communities. Its Innovation Center in Kerpen, Germany, invited students from the Formula Student racing team at RWTH Aachen University for tours of its research facilities and specialized technical training sessions.
The company's factory in Campigliore, Italy, has participated for three consecutive years in an educational event for technical high school students, introducing them to practical manufacturing skills. Its factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, offers final-year students from a nearby technical university lectures on industrial automation and summer internship opportunities.
Efforts to improve educational environments are also ongoing. Employees at the Rayong factory in Thailand delivered school supplies to a school in a mountainous area and a welfare foundation for people with disabilities, and conducted safety education sessions. In South Korea, Hanon Systems is working with Hankook & Company on a mural-painting project at elementary schools in Daejeon and Yongin to help improve their learning environments.

"We will continue to expand educational opportunities and support the growth of the next generation through our global sites."
