Prices for processed egg products at convenience stores are set to rise, driven by a sharp surge in egg prices caused by avian influenza.

According to industry sources Tuesday, starting July 1, four processed egg products sold at convenience stores — Gamdongran 100g, Dongiran 2-pack, green tea smoked eggs 2-pack, and bamboo salt Dongui smoked eggs 2-pack — will increase in price by 100 won to 2,700 won.

Egg prices have remained elevated. According to distribution data from the Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation, the national average retail price for a 30-count pack of premium-grade eggs this month stands at 7,467 won, up 6.5 percent from the same month last year. A 10-count pack of large-grade eggs has also risen to 5,222 won, up 38.6 percent year-on-year.
