A decade in the making since site purchase

DB Insurance held a completion ceremony June 19 at the second-floor auditorium of its new Busan headquarters in Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu, the company announced Tuesday.

Construction on the Busan building broke ground in June 2022 and was completed June 2 after roughly four years of work. The building spans 24 above-ground floors and eight below-ground floors, with a total floor area of 44,769.84 square meters. Located in Seomyeon, one of Busan's main commercial districts, the building connects directly to Exit 12 of Seomyeon subway station at its second basement level, significantly improving access for customers and employees alike.

DB Insurance said the new Busan office marks its formal launch as a regional hub for Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province. Major subsidiaries and affiliates will move into the building in stages. The company plans to build out a state-of-the-art smart office environment to boost operational efficiency and deliver a higher level of service to customers across the region.

The building has drawn attention as a landmark structure in central Seomyeon, featuring a distinctive exterior, a cutting-edge intelligent building system and smart space-control technology. DB Insurance first purchased the site in 2015, and more than a decade passed before construction was complete.

At the ceremony, DB Insurance CEO Jeong Jong-pyo said that while the DB Financial Center on Teheran-ro in Seoul had represented the company's ambition to become the top insurer in South Korea, the Busan headquarters signals "a new challenge and a greater leap — not just in Korea, but in global markets."

DB Group Vice Chairman Kim Jeong-nam, who also spoke at the event, said the Busan building is "the fruit of the solid trust DB Insurance has built with its customers over the years," adding that he hopes it will become a hub that grows alongside the communities of Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province.
