Dongjak-gu is hosting a special lecture titled "High School Choice Guide: Specialized and Private High School Talk" to help middle school students in the district navigate the high school admissions process and plan their academic paths.
The lecture will be held July 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. at the 4th-floor auditorium of the Dongjak-gu Office.
Jung Chang-wook, vice principal of Sewha High School, will lead the session. He will cover an analysis of the 2028 college admissions overhaul — including the high school credit system — a roadmap for choosing among different types of high schools, and practical guidance on selecting specialized or private high schools based on individual aptitude.
Before the lecture begins, organizers will use a word cloud tool that instantly visualizes audience responses to boost engagement and encourage active participation.
Following the lecture, a 20-minute question-and-answer session based on pre-submitted questions will give students and parents a chance to address their concerns.
Registration opens Tuesday at 10 a.m. through the Dongjak-gu integrated reservation system or via the QR code on the event poster. Up to 400 middle school students and parents interested in specialized or private high school admissions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Applicants will be notified individually of their registration status via messaging app.
Following this event, the district plans to hold another lecture and high school information fair on Oct. 31 for students and parents considering general or vocational high schools.
