Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday (local time) that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will pay a state visit to Pakistan on Tuesday at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to details the ministry shared on X (formerly Twitter), Pezeshkian will travel with a high-level delegation that includes cabinet-level officials. He is scheduled to call on President Asif Ali Zardari and hold a summit with Prime Minister Sharif.

Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar are also expected to meet with the Iranian president during the visit.

The visit will be Pezeshkian's second to Pakistan since he took office last year.

The two countries plan to use the occasion to review the overall state of bilateral relations and discuss ways to expand cooperation across a range of areas, including trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges and regional connectivity.

The ministry said the visit would serve as a significant opportunity to discuss ongoing diplomatic engagement following the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding — a ceasefire accord between the United States and Iran — on June 17. It will also address regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The ministry added that the visit reflects both nations' shared commitment to deepening their historical and cultural ties and will highlight their common aspirations for peace, stability and sustainable progress in the region.
