The IT Convergence Department at Daegu University has received the top "S" rating in the 2025 SME Contract Department Performance Evaluation, conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, the university announced Monday.

The result brings the department's total to six top-grade ratings over the past seven years, from 2019 through 2025.

Among those results is a record of five consecutive top ratings — the only such streak in the country — cementing the department's standing as a recognized institution for developing talent for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The department was designated in 2012 as the sole university in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province region to administer an SME contract undergraduate program, and has since operated curricular and extracurricular programs tailored to local industry needs.

In this year's evaluation, the department posted strong marks across academic management, including its customized curriculum, high freshman enrollment and degree completion rates, low dropout rates, and transparent use of program funds.

"Earning the S rating six times over the past seven years is the result of the combined efforts of participating companies, students, and university staff," said Won Hee-cheol, head of the IT Convergence Department. "We will continue to support SME employees as they grow into IT professionals with strong practical skills."
