Daegu Children's World, operated by the Daegu City Happiness Foundation, announced Monday that it will run "Kids Campus," a free after-school care program for elementary school students, from July 7 through Dec. 11.

"Kids Campus" is part of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education's education development special zone project. The public education program uses weekday after-school hours to support children's physical, emotional and cognitive development.

The curriculum is organized around "customized smart care" tailored to children's developmental needs and divided into three areas: physical fitness, covering yoga, K-pop dance and new sports; emotional well-being, including art projects and reading and speech activities; and intellectual development, featuring programs such as the Magic Science Investigation unit.

The program is open to lower-grade elementary students (grades 1 through 3) and upper-grade students (grades 4 through 6). Classes are kept small, with around 10 students per group, to allow for personalized instruction. Most courses run once a week for one month, totaling four sessions.

Participation is free. Registration for the first round of July programs opened Monday and runs through July 1 via the Daegu Children's World website.

Kim Su-hee, director of Daegu Children's World, said the program was designed to help children make meaningful use of their after-school hours and grow in a well-rounded way. "We will continue to expand high-quality public education that supports the healthy development of children in the community and eases the care burden on families," she said.
