Cumulative sales at Lotte Mart and 7-Eleven top 500,000 loaves; relay pop-ups at 6 locations through August
"Sumgyeol Tong-sikppang," a white bread that became a word-of-mouth hit, will appear at a series of pop-up events at Lotte Department Store locations, shopping malls and outlets starting Friday.
Lotte Wellfood produces the bread using a patented lactic-acid fermentation process developed by Lotte Central Research Institute, and it is sold as a private-brand product at Lotte Mart, Lotte Super and 7-Eleven. The "Oneul Joheun Sumgyeol Tong-sikppang" at Lotte Mart and Lotte Super, and the "Seven Select Sumgyeol Tong-sikppang" at 7-Eleven, together surpassed 500,000 cumulative units sold within about nine weeks of launch.
The product stands as a flagship collaboration across Lotte Group's food and retail affiliates, combining their capabilities from research and development through production to sales.
Lotte Department Store is extending the collaboration. Starting at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil on Friday, pop-ups will run at six locations in total: Lotte Premium Outlets Uiwang (July 4-5), Giheung (July 11-12), Lotte Department Store Dongtan (July 17-19), Lotte Premium Outlets Gimhae (July 25-26) and Lotte Mall East Busan (Aug. 1-2).
Purchase perks are also on offer. Customers who buy two or more loaves will receive a complimentary fan. Those who pay with Lotte, BC Card or PAYCO can get the bread at half price.
