Gangseo-gu district mayor attends culture-tech convergence conference as MCT Festival runs through Sunday in Magok
Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said Friday he will develop Magok into a future city where cutting-edge industry and culture converge.
Jin made the remarks at the opening event of the MCT Festival (Magok Culture & Tech Festival) — a culture and technology convergence conference held at Coex Magok Le'west Hall. "The MCT Festival is the starting point toward Magok as a future city," he said.
"The MCT Festival, where culture and technology come together, aligns with the vision of Magok as a future city," Jin said. "Together with Gangseo-gu residents and the advanced companies that have moved into Magok, we will make that future city a reality."
The MCT Culture & Technology Convergence Conference opened with a keynote address by Choi Ki-young, former minister of Science and ICT, followed by lectures from leading AI scholars and experts.
The 2nd MCT Festival, which kicked off alongside the conference, runs through Sunday in and around Magok.
The event is packed with future-oriented content blending culture and technology, featuring performances, a picnic library, an MCT market and a range of other programs.
On Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m., a special outdoor stage in front of Magongnaru Station will host the "KOMCA Copyright Chart Show," organized in partnership with the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), chaired by Lee Si-ha. Singers Kwon Eun-bi, Lim Chang-jung and Hwang Ga-ram are among the performers, and admission is free.
The MCT Festival, which debuted last year, has drawn tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors and is establishing itself as a global festival that unites cultural arts with cutting-edge science and technology.
