Incheon residents will be taking their World Cup enthusiasm underground.

The Incheon Transit Corporation will host joint World Cup cheering events with citizens at ART-RO INCHEON, a cultural arts space on the below-ground first floor of Incheon City Hall Station on Incheon Urban Railway Line 1, on June 19 and June 25.

The star of the event is by far the ART-RO INCHEON media wall — a massive screen measuring 10 meters wide and 3 meters tall that will turn the space into a giant cheering arena on match days.

Visitors will be able to watch the South Korean national team's matches live on the large display and share in the atmosphere.

The corporation plans to broadcast the match against Mexico at 10 a.m. on June 19 and the match against South Africa at 10 a.m. on June 25. No advance registration is required — anyone can drop in and join the cheering freely.

The events are also expected to draw commuters and passersby who pause mid-stride to shout "Daehanminguk!" — a distinctly lively scene for a subway station.

A space that ordinarily hosts cultural arts exhibitions will be transformed into an "urban cheering square" filled with crowd noise and applause.

The excitement need not stop there. Should the South Korean team advance to the knockout rounds, the corporation plans to broadcast subsequent matches on the ART-RO INCHEON media wall and keep the cheering going with citizens.

"We hope citizens will cheer on the South Korean team together at ART-RO INCHEON and create special memories," said Choe Jeong-gyu, president of the Incheon Transit Corporation.
