MAU gap between Naver Plus Store and 11st stands at 550,000
Naver's AI shopping app Naver Plus Store has overtaken 11st to become the second-most-used e-commerce platform in South Korea by monthly active users.
Naver Plus Store recorded 8.75 million MAU in May, up 7.5 percent from the previous month, according to Yonhap News Agency and Mobile Index on Monday. 11st logged 8.21 million MAU over the same period, ceding its No. 2 position. Coupang Inc retained the top spot with roughly 34.9 million MAU.
Cumulative downloads of the Naver Plus Store app reached 17.5 million, up roughly 35 percent from the fourth quarter of last year, reflecting continued growth.
Naver attributed the rapid expansion to its AI strategy. The company has been running AI experiments through the Naver Plus Store app, which incorporates personalized product recommendations. Transactions in AI-recommended sections rose 50 percent in the first quarter compared with the previous quarter.
Naver has also introduced an AI shopping agent that proactively suggests purchases to users, moving toward a fully action-capable agent.
