Prime Minister Kim Min-seok will convene a ministerial meeting Thursday evening to review the government's response to the controversy over irregularities in the recent local elections.

A government official said Kim will chair the meeting on voting rights violations at the Government Complex Sejong at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will assess voting rights violations stemming from a ballot shortage during the June 3 local elections, as well as the government's current response.

Officials from the Ministry of Interior and Safety, Ministry of Justice, prosecutors, Korean National Police Agency, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are expected to attend.

"It will be a forum for the relevant ministries to hold comprehensive discussions on how to respond to the series of events related to the voting rights violations," a government official said.
